I'm not sure if I have a case; is FeeAuction for me?

It definitely is. You don't know IRS laws and regulations, and you're not expected to. By posting your case on FeeAuction you will get feedback from experienced Tax Professionals who will let you know whether or not you have a real case. So instead of going to Tax Professionals for a free consultation, with FeeAuction, Tax Professionals come to you!

What's the Tax Professional going to charge me?

We can't really answer that. What the Tax Pro charges is between you and the Tax Pro. Depending on the type of case and how much work is required, the fees will vary.

I posted my case, but I don't like any of the Tax Professionals; do I HAVE to choose one?

Nope. If you didn't like any of the Tax Professionals that responded to your case, you don't have to pick them. This is your case, and you can have the Tax Pro YOU want. So, you can just repost the case and have Tax Professionals bid on it again.

The Tax Professionals offer different types of payment options; which one is the best?

Well it depends. A Tax Pro has four options when bidding: a contingency rate, a flat rate, an hourly rate, or pro bono. It all depends on the type of case you have, and your financial situation. Some cases will be based on a contingency fee, which means you pay nothing unless you win, and then the Tax Pro takes a “cut” (percentage of the winnings). If you lose, you pay nothing. Other case types (writing a contract for example) may work best on a flat rate fee, which means you agree on a fixed price up front and don't pay a dollar more. Hourly rates are self-explanatory, and if a Tax Pro bids pro bono, it means he is willing to take your case free of charge. Choose whichever works best for your situation.

Does the whole world see my dirty laundry?

Of course not. Participating Tax Professionals will see the information, but they are the ONLY ones. Even the Tax Pros who see your information will not know who you are, because your identity is not revealed to anyone, but the Tax Professional you decide to select. And what’s more, any people visiting the site or other Clients will NOT see any of your private information.

A Tax Pro responded to my case; can I talk to them?

Yes. You can message the Tax Pro and they can message you. Feel free to question them about their experience, their location, cases they’ve handled that were similar to yours, or ANYTHING you want. Also, much of this info is already posted on their profile where you will have complete access, allowing you the opportunity to review their background. You are hiring this person and you are entitled to find out any information you want.
